Patsy, Jasper & Penny have their bedtime stories ready

Do you believe in angels?
I had often heard people talking about their guardian angels and didn't know whether to believe them or not. But this incident described below convinced me that everyone has one.
I love writing about Martha Rookie Angel in the Dingebury Town Mystery series.
She's such a character. Sometimes I can’t help feeling sorry for her, but at other times I sit at my desk in fits of laughter as her antics spill onto the page. I'm often surprised myself at what she gets up to.
I generally write in longhand first and I'm convinced I'm being used as a channel, so these stories can be told for all to enjoy.
Various things have happened to me in the past which I've tweaked and used in the books.
True story
One such instance happened to me many years ago and I used it at the start of the first book where Martha is knocked down by a car.
At that time, I was working in a small office down in the village near home. My cat Pepper who was only about two years old at the time was badly injured somehow. We never did find out what happened to her but she had to spend some time in residence at the vets and when she came home needed a lot of special attention.
The roof of her mouth was shattered, and she had a broken lower jaw. Her back end was numb, so her tail hung limp.
I had a little time off work until she was strong enough to be left for a few hours at a time.
The office was about a twenty-minute walk from where I lived, near enough for me to be able to rush home at
lunch-time to syringe feed, see to her needs and then rush back to work again. My boss was very good and did give me extra time if needed.
One lunchtime I left the office and was anxious to get home as soon as possible. I didn’t drive then so it was a case of walking very fast and running as much as my legs would allow, up the road, over the bridge, then down another road to get home see to puss and after rush back to the office.
I only had an hour for lunch and wasn’t paying enough attention on this particular day. Too busy thinking about Pepper and hoping she was all right.
Just as I was about to step off the pavement to cross the road and start my sprint I felt what I can only describe as a punch in my stomach which sent me staggering back into the small wall in front of the office building. To say I was surprised didn’t cover it but as I glanced up I saw a car speeding past.
I would have been under that car if my guardian angel hadn't been looking after me that day making sure I got home safely to see to Pepper. I made sure after that to check the road properly before crossing.
Happy ending
Pepper did make a full recovery in time although her tail took months to return to normal. She gained the feeling in it inch by inch and it looked comical when it was almost there with only the last couple of inches or so still hanging limp. At least she didn’t have to lose her tail bless her, and she lived until she was sixteen years old.
Conclusion
After that, I knew my guardian angel was with me. I often ask her for help to this day.
I do drive now and if I’m going shopping at a busy time of the day and need a parking space I ask either before I leave home, if I remember, or when I'm driving along, and I always get a space, if not straight away then after only a minute or two when someone leaves the car park. Try it for yourselves and see what happens. It works

Please don't forget to say thank you to your angel.
